Shepcon QLD 4th Year Anniversary
We celebrate Christmas and another successful year working in Concrete using systems and innovations that have delivered our clients a significant Advantage over the year.
Shepcon has maintained its position at a responsible $15Mil turnover business employing 70 people working 148,000 hours over 28 separate projects through 2018.
2019 will see Shepcon focusing on improvements to: our brand, service offering and, enhancing our delivery process. We will continue our strong focus on leadership, use of technology and to deliver excellence at work.
Projects
Shepcon recently celebrated the winning our 100th Contract. 2018 has been dominated by work at Amberley Airforce Base and Industrial Warehouse projects.
We continue to have a passion for delivering high end industrial floors. Our capability remains unmatched in SE Queensland with multiple experienced teams, 6 Somero Laser Screeds and a fleet of 12 Allen’s ride-on troweling machines providing an ability to work simultaneously on 3 burnished floor projects. We are proud to report the completion 205,000m2 of industrial warehouse and retail floor work across 15 projects this year.
A 63,000m2 Aircraft pavement project for the RAAF Growler Fighter Jets has been our flagship project this year. The project has showcased Shepcon’s ability to provide industry leading innovative construction solutions to a complex technical concrete construction project.
In just 4 years, we have proven ourselves with experience, being industry leaders in technology, plant and machinery and have created many bespoke innovations to improve efficiency, finish and safety. Our systems deliver an expertly choreographed performance that sets us apart from other concrete contractors.
Industry Leadership
The advancement of our people and our industry is paramount. We provide career pathways that include entry level training, professional advancement and industry leading skill-sets. Our people are taught to focus on attention to detail, teamwork, and impeccable results–leading the industry by example. Shepcon directors continue to invest time in leadership coaching and mentoring. We have offered more industry traineeships and Shepcon continues to support a key employee complete his Civil Engineering degree on a part time basis.
Our Safety record is summarized by our work cover premium now below 3% of labour cost which is 48% of the industry standard premium rate. This achievement is beyond our expectations and remains the outcome of a brilliant joint effort from employees, Shepcon Rehabilitation Coordinator, Safety Representatives and Company WSHO’s.
Shepcon is proud to be sending another supervisor to the World of Concrete in Las Vegas in January next year for advanced industry training. We plan to continue this initiative offering supervisors an opportunity to attend the World of Concrete and advance their knowledge in the industry in years to come.
Technology
Shepcon continues to offer innovation and technology solutions to give our clients an advantage.
We have engineering expertise, qualifications and vast project experience delivering leveraged results for our clients. Shepcon has invested close to $1Millon on new technology this year including an Allen’s Triple Tube Roller Paver, a new Somero S485, S15R Laser Screed and Somero’s latest 3D profiling system.
These have been massive investments for Shepcon that enhances the working life of our people with superior technology providing better working conditions, longer career paths, and better results for our clients. We are always searching for a better way, a smarter solution, to provide transparency, create consistency and to surpass expectations.
Excellence in our Industry
Combining our experience, leadership, people, innovation and technology produces results like an elite sporting team, delivering a well-choreographed performance. We step in time, as a team, and aim to deliver excellence.
We have invested time and money in supplier and subcontract relationships that can save money, control quality and reduce waste and environmental impact.
Like any other high performing team, we are always working to a game-plan but crucially, we carry the skill and experience to be responsive to changing conditions. We have set clear performance Goals for 2019 and look forward to exceeding these Goals with our clients.
Community
Mental health remains a massive challenge in our industry. We have decided to donate money again to Black Dog Institute charity in lieu of client Christmas gifts. We have not forgotten those doing it tough on the land and have added another donation to the Buy a Bale Charity.
