Overview:
The Southern Terminal Expansion project of the Gold Coast Airport involved the installation of approximately 2000m2 of aircraft pavement, consisting of 300mm thick lean mix sub-base and 465mm flexural pavement. Project specification had onerous requirements for finished apron pavement level, slope and density, which Kraftur® delivered through consultation with the managing contractor and concrete supplier, as well as through innovative solutions planned and delivered on the jobsite.
Scope of works:
- Place, finish and cure lean mix sub base for apron pavement using Kraftur® total station controlled laser screed.
- Supply and installation of custom engineered timber aircraft pavement formwork that conformed to tight specification tolerances regarding formwork alignment, level, movement, dowel and tie bar positioning.
- Installation of reinforcement.
- Place and finish aircraft pavement concrete according to specification using a vibrating truss screed and bridge, while monitoring and maintaining optimal environmental conditions for concrete as specified.
- Continuous wet curing of concrete for seven days.
- Jointing of apron pavement as specified.
