Project: Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion Project
Builder: John Holland Group
Address:Friendship Ave, Marcoola QLD 4564
Overview:
The Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion project involved the installation of approximately 13,000m2 of aircraft apron pavement, consisting of a 150mm thick wet lean mix sub-base layer and a 430mm thick Portland Cement Concrete flexural pavement. Kraftur® provided significant project planning and scheduling input to deliver the apron on time, while conforming to stringent aircraft pavement specification requirements.
Scope of works:
- Place, finish and cure lean mix sub-base for apron pavement using Kraftur total station-controlled laser screed.
- Supply and installation of custom engineered steel aircraft pavement formwork that conforms to precise specification tolerances for the formwork’s alignment, level, movement limits and dowel positioning.
- Installation of reinforcing mesh.
- Place and finish aircraft pavement concrete according to project specification using a vibrating truss screed and bridge or counter rotating tube paver or while monitoring and maintaining optimal environmental conditions for concrete as specified.
- Continuous wet curing of concrete for seven days using hessian mats and soaker hoses
- Saw cutting, jointing widening and joint sealing of apron pavement.
