Challenges and Solutions

Challenge:

  1. Major delay to principal contractor start of project due to latent conditions – Approx 3 months
  2. Civil contractor could not keep up with subgrade preparation for external hardstands, and footpaths.

Solution:

  1. Despite 3 months delay, Kraftur still committed to deliver this project due to its huge capacity and vast resources by having two excavator machines, total stations and crew size to accelerate the footings programme. Kraftur offered solution to change the designs of office raft slabs to conventional thicker slab for enabling crew to accelerate, commercial benefits to principal and still support engineering requirements.
  2. Kraftur offered solution to use its excavator to trim the subgrade and hired compaction plate to stabilize the ground for steel-fixing crew to lay mesh for hardstands. Managed to take on additional scope and delivered hardstands within CIP’s programme.
